Week 6: Sketching in the Garden
This weeks activity was something that I haven't done in a while. I haven't drawn in a while and I definitely haven't sat down at a park and started drawing my environment. So this week's activity brought back old memories of when I used to draw. In the beginning, I struggled a bit because I haven't done something like this in a while. So I first started off by doing the 10, 30 second sketch. I realized that my drawing speed had slowed down a lot, and my hands weren't steady at all. I went to a local park, where I sat for a good half an hour just drawing what had caught my eyes. I did my best to sketch fast, although I am pretty sure some of the sketches took less than 30 seconds. After the sketch, I was really bummed out about the not so perfect bench that I had drawn so for the 5 minute sketch I decided to focus on the bench. I concentrated and drew the shapes out very lightly then once I had something that looked like a bench I decided to start drawing in the darker lines and start to color in the darker area.
The hardest part of this weeks activity was the fact that I was not able to erase anything because there were many things that seemed wrong in my eyes. But every little errors in the sketches are not errors, it makes the sketch that much more unique.
