AOTW: Eva & Franco Mattes

Eva and Franco Mattes are artists that operate in New York City. They were both born in Italy in 1976. Their art work mainly focuses on politics and ethical issues. These two are known as pioneers of the NetArt movement, which focus on the issues of the internet age.

Their work consists of items and photos and websites for people to interact with. Although some people did argue that creating websites is not considered as an art, but Mattes argued that although it is not physically there, it still made people interact with the website and everyone who went on the website had a reaction.

One of their well known and one of the most shocking art piece was called Darko Maver, which also happens to be one of my favorite pieces creates by the Mattes. Although it is gruesome, it is something that occurs every single day in our country, and other countries as well. To explain further, these gruesome events happen every single day, but most are ignored by the media. If its not something that they think is a worth while topic, they usually don't mention anything about it. Just in this country, many people go missing every single day, while some are found dead or never found, we never truly hear anything about it until the case is resolved or something catches the medias eyes.
