AOTW: Chris Jordan

Chris Jordan is a photographer that is based in Seattle, Washington. His work is based on the mass consumption that the United State produces by taking/ creating art with garbage. Some of his known work is called "Intolerable beauty" and "Running numbers" both depicting the issues of mass consumption of the United States.

Chris Jordan's work many items like trash and other photographs in order to create a larger piece of art. Most of his work involves colors, although they are not bright colors, most of his art work involves pastel colors. Mostly all of this work involves a deeper meaning. One of his well known work "Intolerable beauty", he takes a large scale photograph of the trash that the United States consumes. He took photos of a collection of circuit boards, in inform its viewers of the mass consumption of e-waste. He also created a piece that involves plastic bags that are thrown out and end up in to the ocean. This is

one of my favorite pieces because this issue has always been a problem and is an issue that has always bothered me. Although in California we have just recently partaken in a movement to reduce plastic waist that ends up in the ocean, a lot more needs to be done in order to help reduce waste and to help our environment go back to normal. My other favorite piece is part of the "Intolerable beauty" collection which involves cellphones. This is one of my favorite because I never thought of the massive impact of the usage of

cellphones until I saw this photograph. Considering the fact that we always exchange our old phones to new ones every couples of years, I never considered the fact of where these cell phones end up.
