AOTW: Ragnar Kjartansson

Ragnar Kjartansson was born in 1976 in Reykjavík. His mother is a famous actress in Iceland, and his father is a director and a playwrite, so he was introduced to art and theater at a very young age.

Ragnar Kjartansson's work involves paintings but he mainly focuses on performance art. His painting involves light pastel colors. His painting does not usually involve dark colors, and it seems as if his paintings are somewhat transparent. The transparency makes sense because his painting method for most of his painting involves water color.

Ragnar Kjartansson has mentioned that his art is about the feeling, and that there is no story behind his work. I believe he let his work be open to interpretation Although Ragnar Kjartansson was known for his performance art, his paintings caught my attention. For his example his Omnipresent Salty Death paintings caught my attention right away. And I do agree with his statement of his paintings being associated with the individuals feelings about the paintings, but at the same time there is really no story behind his paintings.
