AOTW: Allan Kaprow
Allan Kaprow was born on August 23, 1927 in New Jersey, but due to his chronic illness he moved to Tuscan, Arizona. As a child he was focused on paintings, but as time moved on he started to focus on abstract expressionism. One of his most notable work, "happenings", he was one of the artist who believed that art did not have to hang on a wall. Allan Kaprow passed away by natural cause on April 5, 2006.
Allan Kaprow has may types of art work. Looking at his paintings, he has at least one to three primary colors. The style of his paintings is close to a distressed style, since his painting seems rugged. But his abstract expression pieces seems to not include many colors in them. Bur with his abstract expression pieces, there are deeper meanings to them. One of my favorite piece of Allan Kaprow is "fluid" which was part of the "happening". "Fluid" is composed of rectangle ice blocks. He had multiple people help out on the piece, and the piece represented the concept of having an idea and leaving a physical trace behind although not permanent. I like how this piece has been recreated in different locations, and each location has it's own unique twist to the piece.
